Kaitlyn was one of the first to realize something was up. It was a blur to Sarah, but it was a different story for her sister. The day Sarah was talking about is the day they realized Lauren was missing-June 29th. "We all talk about it with each other because we all have different memories from that day and that week," says Sarah. She decided to unplug from distractions so she wouldn’t be interrupted. Lauren attended the wedding, then went back to her Macon apartment at Barristers Hall to study. Lauren's sister Kaitlyn was married in June that summer in their home state of Maryland. ![]() Next, she planned to start a career as a defense attorney. That summer of 2011, she was vigorously studying for the bar exam. In the weeks leading up to her death, she received her law degree. When she decided to come to Macon for law school, her family was hopeful, instead, the move ended in horror. Lauren was the first person in her family to go to college.
